Approving the amended and restated redevelopment contract of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia for the redevelopment and urban renewal of a portion of the Franklin Town Project, designated as Parcel No. 8s and also sometimes identified by house number and street address for Parcel No. 8s as 1701 Vine street; and authorizing the Redevelopment Authority to execute the amended and restated redevelopment contract with Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to take such action as may be necessary to effectuate the amended and restated redevelopment contract.
Body
            WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia (hereinafter "Redevelopment Authority") has prepared and submitted a redevelopment proposal for the redevelopment of the Franklin Town Project (hereinafter "Franklin Town"), which said proposal was approved by Ordinance of the Council on December 31, 1971, as amended; and
            WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority has prepared an amended and restated redevelopment contract for a portion of Franklin Town designated as Parcel No. 8s and also sometimes identified by house number and street address for Parcel No. 8s as 1701 Vine street (the “Property").  The area of the said Property is bounded as follows:
Parcel No. 8s (1701 Vine street).  
ALL THAT CERTAIN tract or piece of land situate in the Eighth Ward of the City of Philadelphia, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania described in accordance with a plan of property prepared by Barton & Martin Engineers dated May 28, 1986 and last revised January 16, 1987, as follows:  beginning at the point of intersection of the northerly side of Vine street (variable width) with the easterly side of 18th street (fifty feet wide); Thence from said point of beginning extending along said easterly side of 18th street two hundred eleven feet four inches to a point; thence leaving the side of 18th street and extending two hundred sixty one feet one-half inch to a point on the southwesterly side of Franklintown boulevard (seventy feet wide); thence extending along said southwesterly side of Franklintown boulevard two hundred forty nine feet ten and seven-eighths inches to a point on the northerly side of Vine street; thence extending along said northerly side of Vine street fifty two feet six and one-quarter inches to a point; thence continuing along said side of Vine street three hundred forty three feet two inches to the point and place of beginning.
            The said amended and restated redevelopment contract is in substantial conformity with the amended redevelopment proposal to be submitted for approval by the Council; and
            WHEREAS, Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (hereinafter "Redeveloper") desires to enter into the said amended and restated redevelopment contract for the Property.
            RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the amended and restated redevelopment contract submitted by the Redevelopment Authority for the redevelopment of that portion of Franklin Town, as hereinabove more particularly described, is hereby approved.  City Council authorizes the Redevelopment Authority to proceed with minor changes in substantial conformity with the hereby approved amended and restated redevelopment contract.  The Redevelopment Authority is authorized to execute the hereby approved amended and restated redevelopment contract with Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the “Redeveloper”).  The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to take such action in substantial conformity to the redevelopment contract as may be necessary to carry it out.
            RESOLVED, The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to prepare or cause to be prepared for introduction into the Council such ordinances or resolutions as may be necessary for changes in zoning, streets, alleys, public ways, street patterns, location and relocation of public utilities, and related items which are required in order to facilitate and effectuate the amended and restated redevelopment contract hereby approved.  Accordingly, the Council hereby declares that it will cooperate in helping to carry out the amended and restated redevelopment contract and requests the various officials, departments, boards and agencies of the City having administrative responsibilities in the premises likewise to cooperate to such end and to exercise their respective functions and powers in a manner consistent with the amended and restated redevelopment contract.
