WHEREAS, Young Involved Philadelphia has been working for over ten years to increase civic engagement among young Philadelphians and facilitate reforms for a better Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, From October 3, 2011 through October 14, 2011, Young Involved Philadelphia will host its second annual "State of Young Philly" - a series of events involving over thirty participating organizations - whose theme this year will be "Building Philly's Future"; and

WHEREAS, "State of Young Philly: Building Philly's Future" will leverage the voice of young Philadelphia by bringing together hundreds of young professionals and key City leaders to discuss how to build a better future for Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, "State of Young Philly: Building Philly's Future" will:

ENGAGE - Young Philadelphians will have an opportunity to engage with their peers, organizational leaders, and government representatives and be exposed to innovative approaches;

CONNECT - Young Philadelphians will connect with other young leaders and organizations in the City; and

REPRESENT - Young Philadelphians will share feedback on current practices and help discuss key ideas for building a better future for the City; and

WHEREAS, Based on the ideas generated from facilitated discussions among speakers and attendees during "State of Young Philly: Building Philly's Future," Young Involved Philadelphia will produce a written agenda that will inform Philadelphia's direction in four focus areas - Community Engagement, Education, Sustainability and Planning, and Creative Economy; and

WHEREAS, As part of its ongoing effort to engage, connect, and represent young Philadelphians, Young Involved Philadelphia will organize future activities and events aimed at putting the written agenda into action; now, therefore, be it
