Recognizing and Congratulating the Brandywine Workshop on its 40th Anniversary and the “Full Spectrum: Prints from the Brandywine Workshop” Exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Body
WHEREAS, Brandywine Workshop was founded in 1972 by Allan Edmunds, a visual artist, educator and arts administrator, in the City of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Brandywine Workshop has become an internationally recognized center for print making and has played an instrumental role in the Philadelphia community through an array of artists of diverse backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Brandywine Workshop, Full Spectrum: Prints from the Brandywine Workshop is being exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the Main Building from September 7 - November 25, 2012; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, the workshop donated one hundred prints by eighty-nine artists to the Museum in memory of the Museum's late director Anne d'Harnoncourt.  Full Spectrum celebrates this generous gift as well as the workshop's accomplishments over its distinguished forty-year history; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the prints on display, exhibit visitors will receive a catalogue which features the one hundred print donation in its entirety; and
WHEREAS, Through this exhibition, Philadelphians have an opportunity to view and appreciate the magnitude and international reach of the Brandywine Workshop; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, by the City Council of Philadelphia, That we hereby recognize and congratulate the Brandywine Workshop on its 40th Anniversary and the “Full Spectrum: Prints from the Brandywine Workshop” Exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Further Resolved, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Allan Edmunds and the Philadelphia Museum of Art as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
