WHEREAS, In 1993, Richard L. Wade became Head of School at Germantown Friends School which enrolls 885 students, grades K-12, and is under the care of Germantown Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends; and

WHEREAS, Since arriving at Germantown Friends School, Mr. Wade has served on the boards of the Friends Council on Education and the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools, including two years as president of the board; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Wade is currently a member of the board of directors of Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia, The Center in the Park, which provides services to senior citizens in Germantown and its surrounding neighborhoods and the Cetana Educational Foundation, which supports educational initiatives in Myanmar; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of the Cliveden Heritage Award is to honor community leaders who exemplify Cliveden's mission, to create vibrant communities through education, preservation, and engagement. Mr. Richard Wade will receive this year's award for his decades-long commitment to Greater Germantown and the young men and women who will honor his dedication to a pride of place well into the future; and

WHEREAS, In honoring Mr. Wade, Cliveden celebrates his heartfelt commitment to Germantown, his continuous efforts to establish authentic relationships, his strong belief in the importance and richness of diversity, and his leadership both within the school community and in the larger community of Northwest Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Wade has exemplified the Germantown Friends School's dedication to reaching that of God in every person, and their mission in seeking the truth, challenging the intellect, honoring differences, embracing the City and nurturing each student's mind, body and spirit; now therefore,
