WHEREAS, United Bank of Philadelphia, an African American controlled and managed commercial bank, is a proud contributor to the economic fabric of this great City. The chartering of the Bank in 1992 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Banking, brought together the rich diversity of the leadership that had and continue to have a tremendous stake in this region; and

WHEREAS, United Bank of Philadelphia has the primary mission to deliver excellent customer service at a profit and to make United Bank of Philadelphia the "hometown" bank of choice whose goal is to foster community development by providing quality personalized comprehensive banking services to businesses and individuals in the Greater Philadelphia region, with a special sensitivity to Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and women; and

WHEREAS, United Bank of Philadelphia champions what it calls the "Cycle of Progress" where resources are continuously reinvested back into area businesses and neighborhoods with inclusive practices that create opportunities for advancement, resulting in healthy, empowered communities that are often overlooked and underutilized; and

WHEREAS, Despite a period of enormous economic growth, not everyone has benefited equally. The United Bank of Philadelphia believes that through effective leadership, collaboration, and innovation change can occur and everyone can benefit; and

WHEREAS, In 2012, The Urban League of Philadelphia honored The United Bank of Philadelphia with their Community Leader Empowerment Award for their resilient and unending support of the Minority Community; now therefore
