WHEREAS, The First Annual Mexican Week Philadelphia 2013, which will take place from April 29th through May 5th, is presented by The Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia and The Mexican Cultural Center in celebration and promotion of the arts, music, and culture of Mexico; and
 
WHEREAS, Philadelphia has a rich, growing, and robust community of people of Mexican descent who call our city home; and
 
WHEREAS, The Mexican Week Philadelphia 2013 will be an annual event designed to unite the Mexican-American community and the City of Philadelphia in celebration of the diversity of Mexican culture, traditions, and customs; and
 
WHEREAS, The Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia and The Mexican Cultural Center are leading entities that service the Mexican and Mexican-American communities, and are collaborating together to present the First Annual Mexican Week Philadelphia 2013; and
 
WHEREAS, The Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia builds and maintains a relationship between the City of Philadelphia and the nation of Mexico.  The Consulate also provides vital services to the Mexican-American community and promotes trade, commerce, and collaboration while celebrating Mexican traditions and culture; and
 
WHEREAS, The Mexican Cultural Center promotes and preserves Mexican culture and traditions in the Greater Delaware Valley. The Center brings together individuals, organizations, and communities to participate in celebration and to build awareness of Mexican culture and traditions; now, therefore be it
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PHILADELPHIA,  Recognizes and celebrates the First Annual Mexican Week Philadelphia 2013.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That engrossed copies of this Resolution be presented to The Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia and The Mexican Cultural Center, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
