WHEREAS, In 1963, Ralph Roberts, Daniel Aaron and Julian Brodsky purchased American Cable Systems, a 1,200 subscriber cable system in Tupelo, MS; and

WHERAS, In 1969, the company was renamed Comcast, a combination of the words communications and broadcast and incorporated in Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Comcast chose to establish their corporate headquarters in Philadelphia and has remained committed to this region as they have grown into a diverse and global technology driven corporation valued at more than $100 Billion with more than 100,000 employees serving more than 50 million customers worldwide; and

WHEREAS, Comcast is committed to good corporate citizenship by providing funding for social-based non-profit organizations, encouraging their employees to volunteer in their communities and provides more cable service to more than 1 million low income families across the country; and

WHEREAS, In 2007, the Comcast Center was constructed as the tallest building in Philadelphia to serve as the company's global headquarters; and

WHEREAS, Comcast has been at the forefront of developing world-class technology and serves as a main contributor to the economy of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, In 2014, Comcast announced the construction of a second office tower to be known as the Comcast Innovation and Technology Center where they will focus on the deep pool of talented technology developers in Philadelphia and build toward a vision of turning our City into the east coast version of Silicon Valley; and
