Title: Honoring Patricia A. Coulter for her achievements in service to the citizens of Philadelphia as the President and CEO of the Urban League of Philadelphia. WHEREAS, Since 2002, Patricia A. Coulter has served as the President and CEO of the Urban League of Philadelphia and was the first woman to lead a National Urban League affiliate in its history and, in this role, she focuses on leading the organization's strategic initiatives that defend civil rights and economically empower urban communities by serving more than 25,000 adults and youth each year through direct service and advocacy programs that enhance and improve communities; and WHEREAS, As President and CEO, Ms. Coulter manages a $40 million dollar budget and 65 employees and is a civic leader in the Philadelphia community by serving on various non-profit boards and associations including the Philadelphia Education Fund, Free Library of Philadelphia, Eagles Youth Partnership, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia Founda...

WHEREAS, Since 2002, Patricia A. Coulter has served as the President and CEO of the Urban League of Philadelphia and was the first woman to lead a National Urban League affiliate in its history and, in this role, she focuses on leading the organization's strategic initiatives that defend civil rights and economically empower urban communities by serving more than 25,000 adults and youth each year through direct service and advocacy programs that enhance and improve communities; and
 
WHEREAS, As President and CEO, Ms. Coulter manages a $40 million dollar budget and 65 employees and is a civic leader in the Philadelphia community by serving on various non-profit boards and associations including the Philadelphia Education Fund, Free Library of Philadelphia, Eagles Youth Partnership, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia Foundation, Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trustees of Bright Hope Baptist Church. She also has been appointed to the Philadelphia Council for College and Career Success and Advisory Board of the Mayor's Office of Economic Opportunity and Ms. Coulter is a member of the Philadelphia African American Leadership Forum, Forum for a Better Pennsylvania, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter); and
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Coulter has received numerous honors and awards and was recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a Minority Business Advocate and one of its “Women of Distinction” and by Leadership Philadelphia as one of the region's Top 100 Connectors. She was inducted into the Knoxville College Alumni Hall of Fame and was the recipient of the Southeastern PA American Red Cross Clara Barton Outstanding Humanitarian Award, Delta Sigma Theta Sadie T.M. Alexander Award, National Diversity Council Leadership Award, and KYW News Radio Women's Achievement Award; and   
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Coulter was born in Newton, North Carolina and, as a child, was raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Later, she received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Music from Knoxville College, a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Louisville, an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Pierce College, and completed the Harvard Business School's Strategic Perspectives in Non Profit Management; and
 
WHEREAS, Patricia A. Coulter is a committed community leader and business executive whose career spans public and private sector roles and she is a collaborative and strategic professional who creates vision and builds relationships through her devotion to the enhancement of African Americans and being an advocate for civil rights and economic and education equality; now, therefore, be it
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor Patricia A. Coulter for her achievements in service to the citizens of Philadelphia as President and CEO of the Urban League of Philadelphia.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Coulter as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
