WHEREAS, Dennis Lee was born in Philadelphia to Herman and Jenny Lee in 1957 and was raised in the West Philadelphia section of the City; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Lee graduated from Overbrook High School in 1975 and subsequently obtained a Baccalaureate degree in Biology from The Lincoln University in 1979; and

WHEREAS, Soon after his graduation from The Lincoln University, Mr. Lee discovered his passion for serving others and immediately became involved with local civic organizations; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lee has focused the past twenty years of his life on improving outcomes and addressing quality of life issues for all Philadelphians; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lee has built over 300 partnerships with businesses, organizations and law enforcement agencies with a goal of stimulating economic growth, social justice, crime prevention and voter awareness throughout the City of Philadelphia as well as the Delaware Valley; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lee joined the Office of the City Commissioner as a Chief Deputy Commissioner, where he has focused on education the citizens of Philadelphia on the importance of voting and assuring that free and fair elections take place in the city of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lee played an integral role in assisting many organizations to defeat the Voter Identification Bill that sought to suppress voter turnout in Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lee's hard work and dedication which focuses on voter turnout has earned a nickname that he is proud to garner, "The Voter Man"; and

WHEREAS, Despite leaving the Office of the City Commissioner, Mr. Lee will continue his journey to get every Philadelphian to exercise his right to vote and will continue to challenge young people to be better than they were the day before; now, therefore, be it
