WHEREAS, Cunningham Piano is a Philadelphia piano institution, having served the Philadelphia area since 1891.  Its four-story facility has restored thousands of pianos and has shipped many restored pianos around the world; and
 
WHEREAS, Cunningham's founder, Patrick Cunningham, was so confident of the quality of his design and workmanship that he offered $10,000 to anyone who could produce a piano better than his Matchless Cunningham; and
 
WHEREAS, Cunningham Piano was originally based in West Philadelphia and then in Center City before moving its factory and showroom to its current Germantown locations on East Coulter Street and Germantown Avenue in 1945; and
 
WHEREAS, Cunningham Piano continues the tradition of its founder with outstanding craftsmanship. It currently offers a wide array of services including complete restoration of old pianos and new piano preparation; and
 
WHEREAS, Cunningham's workmanship and extraordinary technical expertise caught the eye of the Science Channel's program “How Its Made”, which is airing two shows on piano manufacturing and reconstruction; now, therefore, be it
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby recognizes and honors the Cunningham Piano Company on the occasion of their 123rd birthday and for being featured on the Science Channel's program “How Its Made”.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the owners of Cunningham Piano, Tim Oliver and Rich Galassini as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
