Recognizing and celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Pentecostal Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity for its important enrichment to Philadelphia's faith community.
 
Body
WHEREAS, The Pentecostal Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity (Pentecostal Clergy) represents more than 75 African-American churches with approximately 10,000 parishioners in and around the City of Philadelphia; and
 
WHEREAS, The Pentecostal Clergy are great men and women of faith and has moved to the forefront among faith-based institutions in Philadelphia; and
 
WHEREAS, Bishop Leonard C. Goins founded the Pentecostal Clergy in 2000; and
 
WHEREAS, Bishop Goins has been in ministry since the age of 15. He was ordained in 1971 at the age of 30 as a minister in the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, and he founded the Pentecostal Clergy in 2000; and
 
WHEREAS, The Pentecostal Clergy is the parent organization of the Pentecostal Clergy Political Awareness Committee; and
 
WHEREAS, The Pentecostal Clergy demonstrates its non-partisanship by endorsing and supporting candidates based on their merits without regard to political affiliations; and
 
WHEREAS, Bishop Goins and the Pentecostal Clergy have demonstrated their honesty, integrity, and trust over the past 15 years, and continue to practice what they preach; now, therefore, be it
 
RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby recognizes and celebrates the 15th Anniversary of the Pentecostal Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity for its important enrichment to Philadelphia's faith community.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That Engrossed copies of this resolution be presented to Bishop Leonard C. Goins, Founder and Executive Director, of the Pentecostal Clergy, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
