Body
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires that all car insurance include a minimum of $5,000 worth of personal health insurance; and
 
WHEREAS, Governor Wolf has expanded Medicare in Pennsylvania making health insurance required for all Pennsylvania Citizens; and
 
WHEREAS, Under the Affordable Care Act, every health insurance policy, must by law, cover emergency services, cover all necessary medical services and restricts annual and lifetime limits on medical expenses covered; and
 
WHEREAS, Car insurance consumers who have health insurance are forced to pay twice for the same health insurance coverage, first through their health insurance and second through their car insurance; now, therefore
 
RESOLVED, THAT THE PHILADELPHIA CITY COUNCIL, And the citizens who join with us, hereby call for the Acting Insurance Commissioner of Pennsylvania to find as a matter of fact and law that every Pennsylvania motorist who has health insurance has met the legal requirement of having included in his or her auto coverage a medical benefit of $5,000, and should not be forced to pay for the same coverage a second time.
