Recognizing and honoring the Northwest Raiders Athletic Association for winning the 2014 Pop Warner Super Bowl Championship for the "Midget" division.

Body
WHEREAS, At the 2014 Pop Warner National Super Bowl championship, held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida, the Northwest Raiders Athletic Association placed as one of the two teams in the finals of the "midget" division alongside the New Britain Raiders of Connecticut; and

WHEREAS, The Northwest Raiders Athletic Association, is a part of the Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. Pop Warner is a non-profit corporation, founded in 1929, that provides youth football and cheerleading programs for approximately 325,000 young people ranging in ages from 5 to 16 years old in 42 states and several countries around the world;

WHEREAS, During the 2014 national championship game, the Northwest Raiders Midget team won the first Super Bowl in the organization's history, with a 26-6 win over the New Britain Raiders; and

WHEREAS, The Northwest Raiders have been in existence since 1971 in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. For decades, the Raiders have been an integral provider of sports and education assistance to low income and middle class families; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of the hard work and dedication by the coaches, parents and players in order to achieve this victory, the Northwest Raiders will be honored at a parade in Germantown on Saturday, April 11th; and

WHEREAS, We congratulate head coach Duane Watson, the assistant coaches, the talented players as well as the entire Northwest Raiders Athletic Association team on their impressive victory and for serving as outstanding ambassadors for the City of Philadelphia; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize and honor the Northwest Raider Athletic Association for their outstanding victory in the 2014 Pop Warner Super Bowl.
