Body
WHEREAS, New Leaders Council (NLC) is a 501(c)(3) that works to recruit, train and promote trendsetters, elected officials and civically-engaged leaders in business and industry who will shape the future landscape; and

WHEREAS, New Leaders Council was founded in 2006 in San Francisco with a mission to recruit, train and promote the next generation of progressive leaders and has 40 chapters nationwide; and

WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Chapter of New Leaders Council (NLC PHL) was founded in 2010 and had its inaugural class begin in January 2011 and to date has trained over 100 fellows from diverse professional backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, On May 9th, 2015, NLC PHL will host the 2015 Northeast Conversation, convening 200 New Leaders Council fellows, alumni and friends from across the Northeast including representation from the Boston, Capitol District, Maine, New Jersey, New York City, Rhode Island, and Washington DC Chapters; and

WHEREAS, In light of the pressing issues surrounding net neutrality, education, income inequality, and the tragic events of Ferguson, Missouri, and the death of Eric Gardner, the 2015 Northeast Conversation will serve as a forum on how our founding documents inform (and come up short on) the rights we have taken for granted as 21st Century Americans; and

WHEREAS, NLC PHL's Modern Constitutional Convention will, much like the first Convention in 1787, bring together delegates from New England and the Mid-Atlantic to Philadelphia's famed Old City to discuss how we can continue to form a more perfect union by continue New Leaders Council's mission; and
