Recognizing the Harmony for Peace Foundation for presenting "Celebrate Peace for UN70" to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations.

WHEREAS, The United Nations was created seventy years ago with the purpose "to maintain international peace and security; to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principles of equal rights and self determination of people; to achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian character"; and

WHEREAS, On Saturday, October 24, 2015 the Harmony for Peace Foundation will present "Celebrate Peace for UN70" at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia to celebrate the founding of the United Nations and one of its enduring missions which is to bring nations together as a collective body to work towards international peace and security; and

WHEREAS, The featured concert for "Celebrate Peace for UN" will bring together highly acclaimed musicians and performers along with aspiring youth artists. Notably, the Peabody Youth Orchestra of Baltimore will be joined by Conductor Johan de Meij, who composed the "The Lord of the Rings" symphony. Other memorable performances will be delivered by Gohei Nishikawa, a concert pianist who is building a successful career after overcoming his battle with dystonia and Dr. Yeou-Cheng Ma, accomplished violinist and violist, and Executive Director of Children's Orchestra Society of New York, who works with children with developmental disorders; and

WHEREAS, The United Nations Association of Greater Philadelphia will join the Harmony for Peace Foundation preceding the concert to present an interfaith forum, entitled "Living Together; the Art of Religious Tolerance", a platform for cultural communities throughout the region to meet and discuss the complexities of living together, the United Nations' mission for universal rights and...
