Recognizing and honoring the Wynnefield Residents Association for their diligent work in employing and mentoring youth during the summer.
Body
WHEREAS, The Wynnefield Residents Association, is an organization of persons living in the Wynnefield area of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, The organization, founded by Stanton W. Kratzok, Esq. in 1957, has provided almost fifty years of service to improve the socioeconomic and physical well-being of Wynnefield and its residents; and
WHEREAS, For the past forty years, the organization has run a summer camp program for children. To aide in the assistance of the summer camp program, the organization employs fifteen youth counselors. Sixty percent of those youths reside in the Wynnefield neighborhood. The organization fills the rest of their youth counselor positions with youth from varying neighborhoods across the City; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the summer, the youth counselors are provided with the opportunity to actively mentor children ages six through twelve who attend the summer camp program; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being youth counselors during the summer, the youth employees are also mentored on valuable life skills by the members of the Wynnefield Residents Association, who guide them to the path of becoming positive, constructive adults; now, therefore, be it,
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognizes and honors the Wynnefield Residents Association for their diligent work in employing and mentoring youth during the summer.
