Recognizing and congratulating Perryman Building and Construction for being awarded The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) and Fortune Magazine’s Inner City 100 Honor.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Perryman Building and Construction, a minority-owned and operated firm, is one of the leading, full-service construction companies on the East Coast, self-performing project planning, management, and construction projects for pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, transportation companies, energy companies, parks, and others; and

 

WHEREAS, Originally founded in 1961 by Jimmie Lee Perryman, Sr. in Evergreen, Alabama, the company’s philosophy was and is simple: a quality job performed by quality people always counts. Perryman was especially proud of the number of employees who were able to go on to build their own dreams, including influencing many families to send their children to college for the first time; and

 

WHEREAS, Today, Angelo R. Perryman leads Perryman Building and Construction as President and CEO. Angelina Perryman, Vice President of Administration, is the third generation of the Perryman family in a leadership position at the company; and

 

WHEREAS, The company has completed over 1,000 projects and is an active sponsor and participant in numerous community and civic endeavors in its home base, the Mid-Atlantic region; and

 

WHEREAS, Ranked by revenue growth, Perryman Building and Construction reported 2015 revenues of $21.36M and a five-year growth rate of 381 percent from 2011-2015. Recent Perryman projects include: construction of the Democratic National Convention venue in Philadelphia, Subaru Headquarters in Camden, NJ, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Convention Center, and many others; and

 

WHEREAS, The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) is an annually compiled and released listing featuring innovative, entrepreneurial, and fast-growing businesses from around the country with headquarters located in inner cities; and

 

WHEREAS, The ICIC Conference and Awards Ceremony was held in Boston on September 14, 2016, and the 2016 Inner City 100 list was announced at the conference. Nearly 900 of America’s preeminent inner city businesses were evaluated for this distinction; and

 

WHEREAS, Perryman Building and Construction, is ranked 29th out of 100 on ICIC and Fortune Magazine’s 2016 Inner City 100 list; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby honors and recognizes Perryman Building and Construction on being awarded the ICIC and Fortune Magazine’s Inner City 100 Honor.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Angelo and Angelina Perryman as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
