Appointing a sixteen (16) person task force entitled the "Task Force on Retirement Security for Private Sector Employees in Philadelphia", the purpose of which shall be to explore best practices to address the retirement security crisis in Philadelphia, particularly for private sector employees who are not offered a retirement plan by their employer, and to make recommendations to Council regarding potential solutions.

Body
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 160703 was passed by City Council on June 16, 2016, and called for the creation of a Task Force on Retirement Security for Private Sector Employees in Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, City Council seeks to establish a sixteen (16) person task force entitled the "Task Force on Retirement Security for Private Sector Employees in Philadelphia", the purpose of which shall be to explore best practices to address the retirement security crisis in Philadelphia, particularly for private sector employees who are not offered a retirement plan by their employer, and to make recommendations to Council regarding potential solutions; and

WHEREAS, The Task Force shall be composed of members based on their expertise in retirement plans, pension systems, behavioral economics, finance, law, and policy; and

WHEREAS, The Task Force shall meet at least quarterly. All meetings shall be open to the public; and

WHEREAS, All City Departments, Agencies, Boards, and Commissions shall cooperate with the Task Force, and provide any data it may require. Other public entities, along with the private sector, are encouraged to support and cooperate with the Task Force; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the Task Force on Retirement Security for Private Sector Employees in Philadelphia shall be chaired by the Chair of the City Council Committee on Labor and Civil Service, with the Chair of the City Council Committee on Aging serving as Vice-Chair; and
