WHEREAS, Lynne Korman Honickman is founder and president of The Honickman Foundation, which partners for the future through art, education and community in concert with its affiliate, The Honickman Charitable Trust; and

WHEREAS, Formally trained as a writer and artist, Mrs. Honickman is an activist for the arts and for pressing social issues. Her core values are derived from her family and her Jewish heritage - a legacy that values family, hard work and civic responsibility; and

WHEREAS, A devoted wife and partner for over 55 years, as well as a mother and grandmother, Mrs. Honickman has managed to bring into balance the life of being a supportive spouse, with her passions, interests and values; and

WHEREAS, In 1976 she established Regional Media Associates, an in-house advertising agency for the Honickman Bottling Group, where she served as president and creative director for fifteen years; and

WHEREAS, In 1989 Mrs. Honickman founded The Honickman Foundation, dedicated to the support of projects that promote spiritual growth, creativity, education and social change. The foundation partnered with Project HOME and Comcast over a decade ago to build The Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs in North Central Philadelphia. Currently, the center serves more than 375 children and 925 adults each year; and

WHEREAS, The Honickman Foundation has also established two national book prizes, one in poetry with the American Poetry Review and one in photography with the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Honickman has received countless recognitions and awards for her civic and philanthropic work throughout the City of Philadelphia including an honorary doctor of laws degree in 2002 from Chestnut Hill College; The 2005 G. Fred DiBona, Jr. Individua...
