WHEREAS, Villanova University engages in nearly 250,000 hours of community service annually at the local, regional, and global level; and

WHEREAS, Villanova University has a program called "Community Outreach of Villanova," a weekly service program, which partners with community based social service and charitable organizations in the Philadelphia Area; and

WHEREAS, Villanova University engages in a wide variety of long-term mentoring programs and service-break experiences, such as the University's ongoing projects with Habitat for Humanity; and

WHEREAS, Villanova University hosts the largest student-run Special Olympics event in the world, participates annually in the national MLK Day of Service, and hosts an annual Day of Service in honor of its Patron Saint, St. Thomas; and

WHEREAS, The Corporation for National & Community Service recognized Villanova University on its 2014 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction in the category of General Community Service; and

WHEREAS, The President's Honor roll recognizes institutions of higher education that support exemplary community service programs and raise the visibility of effective practices in campus-community partnerships; and

WHEREAS, This was the seventh occasion that Villanova University was named to the President's Honor Roll and the third time that it has appeared on the President's Honor Roll with Distinction; and

WHEREAS, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching selected Villanova University as one of the 240 U.S. colleges and universities to receive its 2015 Community Engagement Classification; now, therefore, be it,
