Recognizing and honoring Overbrook High School basketball star Asia Abram for her outstanding achievements on the Overbrook Girls Basketball Team and for scoring her 1,000th career point in a game on January 29, 2018.

WHEREAS, Asia Abram is currently in her senior year at Overbrook High School. Throughout her schooling, Asia has been a member of several of the school’s sporting teams, including basketball, softball, volleyball, and soccer; and
WHEREAS, Asia has excelled at everything she has done, but basketball is where she has always stood out. During her basketball career at Overbrook High School, she has totaled 112 steals and 164 assists; and
WHEREAS, Asia was selected as the Overbrook Girls Basketball Player of the Year during the 2015-2016 Season and has been selected as the Overbrook Girls Basketball Player of the Game on several occasions throughout her high school career; and
WHEREAS, Asia’s biggest accomplishment thus far occurred on January 29, 2018, when she scored her 1,000th basketball career point; and
WHEREAS, Asia has overcome many struggles in her life, including the death of her mother while she was a freshman. Despite these hardships, Asia continues to possess a positive attitude and outlook on life, and is an excellent role model to the underclassmen on the Overbrook Girls Basketball Team; and
WHEREAS, Asia has never stopped pushing to be the best student and athlete that she can be. She has a bright future ahead of her, and hitting this milestone is just the beginning; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby recognizes and honors Overbrook High School basketball star Asia Abram for her outstanding achievements on the Overbrook Girls Basketball Team and for scoring her 1,000th career point in a game on January 29, 2018.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Asia Abrams as further evidence of the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
