Recognizing and honoring Jodan Floyd for her outstanding leadership as Principal of AMY Northwest Middle School and for being awarded the 2018 Lindback Foundation Distinguished Principal Leadership Award.

Body
WHEREAS, Jodan Floyd is the Principal of Academy for the Middle Years (AMY) Northwest Middle School. She was appointed to the position in August of 2013; and

WHEREAS, As Principal of AMY, Floyd spearheaded the creation of a new school yard for students to enjoy, and expanded partnerships between the school and the community; and

WHEREAS, Floyd has also worked hard to increase school participation with parents. Floyd has an open door policy and meets with parents once a month for "chat and chew" sessions, where parents can share with her any concerns or suggestions they may have to improve the school; and

WHEREAS, Prior to serving as the Principal at AMY, Floyd was a school-based teacher leader for the Philadelphia School District; and

WHEREAS, Floyd herself is a product of the Philadelphia School District. Growing up, she was inspired by the many teachers who mentored her, and decided that she also wanted to become an educator; and

WHEREAS, Floyd has a Master's Degree from Cheyney University and also serves as a Neubauer Fellow for the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders; and

WHEREAS, On February 28, 2018, Floyd's hard work, dedication, and talents were honored when it was announced that she would receive the 2018 Lindback Foundation Distinguished Principal Leadership Award; and

WHEREAS, The Lindback Foundation Distinguished Principal Award is given annually to the City's top principals. Floyd was one of seven principals selected by school district officials and foundation representatives out of 50 nominees across the City; and

WHEREAS, With the Award, Floyd won a $20,000 stipend for AMY for projects to further improve the school; now, therefore, be it
