Recognizing, Celebrating, and Honoring the Korean United Church of Philadelphia on the Occasion of its 50th Anniversary.

WHEREAS, The Korean United Church of Philadelphia is a Presbyterian Church that serves as a bulwark of the community, meeting the needs of both its members and the City of Philadelphia and beyond through its outreach programs; and
WHEREAS, The Korean United Church of Philadelphia was founded in 1968; and
WHEREAS, Through the Church's Korean and English ministries, it has maintained a well-deserved reputation for providing an outstanding Christ-centered foundation of the Bible for men and women in both the local and global communities; and
WHEREAS, The Korean United Church of Philadelphia has over 500 members, and an active ministry for all ages, with Reverend Jinmo Timothy Cho serving as the Senior Pastor; and
WHEREAS, The Korean United Church of Philadelphia's Vision Statement is, "Equip all the Saints, Hope to the World"; and
WHEREAS, Since 1994, The Korean United Church of Philadelphia's "Brotherhood Rescue Mission Program" has helped countless individuals with drug addictions by providing meals and service; and
WHEREAS, Through the "Turkey Basket Initiative," the Church has given away more than 10,000 turkey baskets to those in need; and
WHEREAS, The Korean United Church of Philadelphia has provided meals to the homeless in Philadelphia through the "Helping Hand Rescue Mission" since 1989; and
WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia owes The Korean United Church of Philadelphia a debt of gratitude for its significant contributions to the well-being of its members, its community, and the City itself, and City Council looks forward to another 50 years-and more-of the Church's continued service to future generations; now, therefore, be it
