Recognizing and honoring Inspector Raymond E. Convery for his service to the City of Philadelphia as he retires.

 

Body

WHEREAS,The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased and proud to recognize and honor Inspector Raymond Convery for his retirement.

 

WHEREAS, Inspector Raymond Convery was born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia. He attended Archbishop Ryan High School and receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Eastern University; and

 

WHEREAS, Inspector Convery is a 2001 graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and a 2006 graduate of the FBI National Academy; and

 

WHEREAS, Inspector Convery was appointed to the Philadelphia Police Department on March 1, 1982. His career began in the 35th District, where he served for seven years. In 1989, he was promoted to Sergeant and moved to the 22nd District, where he worked in the Labor Relations Unit; and

 

WHEREAS, In 1998, Inspector Convery was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and continued his work in Labor Relations. In 2003, he was promoted again to the rank of Captain and served in the Command Inspections Bureau and Safety Office before moving to the 4th Police District; and

 

WHEREAS, Shortly after in December of 2004, Inspector Convery was assigned as the Administrative Supervisor to the Deputy Commissioner of Organizational Services. He remained in this position until 2013 when the Deputy Commissioner retired. Inspector Convery then worked for Deputy Commissioner of Organizational Services, Strategy and Innovations until the following year; and 

 

WHEREAS, In January of 2014, Inspector Convery was assigned to the 9th Police District where he served until March of 2017 when he was promoted to the rank of Inspector. As Inspector, Raymond Convery was assigned to the East Police Division in Philadelphia; and

 

WHEREAS, As Inspector, Mr. Convery has protected the health and safety of all Philadelphians. His family also carries on his tradition of public service. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Margaret, a school teacher, and their son, Raymond Convery, Jr. a police officer in the 22nd District; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognizes, honors, and celebrates Inspector Raymond Convery for his years of service and dedication to the City of Philadelphia and wish him the best in his retirement.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Inspector Convery as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
