Recognizing and honoring Linda Norris for her dedication and service to the East Falls Community.
Body
WHEREAS, Linda Norris is a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, specifically residing in the East Falls neighborhood. With her late husband Edward, she raised eight wonderful children on Division Street, which is located in the heart of East Falls; and
WHEREAS, Linda Norris has made it her mission in life to dedicating her service to her community. For more than 30 years, Linda has served as Committeeperson in Ward 38, Division 16. She has served with her husband Edward, and is now co-committeeperson with her son Stevie, as she passes down her civic pride to the next generation; and
WHEREAS, Linda has previously been elected to the Democratic State Committee and as 2nd Vice Chair to the 38th Ward. In service to the 38th Ward, Linda is known as the "Petition Queen" for consistently getting the most signatures on candidate petitions; and
WHEREAS, Linda Norris can be seen every Election Day, at her polling place at Thomas Mifflin School, where she greets every voter with a warm smile, knowing nearly every voter by name; and
WHEREAS, Linda's dedication to Mifflin School goes well beyond Election Day, as she has assisted students at Thomas Mifflin as a noon-time aide for more than 27 years. She is a favorite of staff, students, and community members, and is one of Mifflin's longest serving staff members; and
WHEREAS, Linda Norris is a true community servant for those in and around East Falls; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby recognizes and honors Linda Norris for her dedication and service to the East Falls community.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Linda Norris as further evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
