Title

Amending Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled “Bicycle Lanes,” by authorizing the Department of Streets to designate a bicycle lane and to remove a travel lane on Market Street and on John F. Kennedy Boulevard, all between North 15th Street and North 20th Street, under certain terms and conditions.

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

 

                     SECTION 1. Title 12 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended as follows:

 

CHAPTER 12-700. BICYCLE LANES.

 

§ 12-701.  Designation of Bicycle Lanes.

 

(1)  A bicycle lane that requires the removal of a parking lane, a travel lane, or both, may be designated upon a street only when authorized by subsection (2) of this Section.

 

(2)  The Department is authorized to designate a bicycle lane upon the following streets and regulate the operation and use of vehicles and bicycles upon such streets in a manner consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) regulations:

                     (k) Market Street, from North 15th Street to North 20th Street: One eastbound bicycle lane and the removal of one travel lane.

 

(l) John F. Kennedy Boulevard, from North 15th Street to North 20th Street: One westbound bicycle lane and the removal of one travel lane.

 

SECTION 2.  This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
