Title

Approving the redevelopment contract of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority for the redevelopment and urban renewal of a portion of the South Central Urban Renewal Area, identified by house numbers and street addresses as 1035 South Sixth street, 1037 South Sixth street and 1028 South Fairhill street; and authorizing the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority to execute the redevelopment contract with Neighborhood Gardens Trust and to take such action as may be necessary to effectuate the redevelopment contract.

Body

WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority (hereinafter "Redevelopment Authority") has prepared and submitted an urban renewal plan and a redevelopment proposal for the redevelopment of the South Central Urban Renewal Area, (hereinafter "South Central"), which said plan and proposal were approved by Ordinance of the Council on December 14, 1971, as amended; and

WHEREAS, The Redevelopment Authority has prepared a redevelopment contract for a portion of South Central, identified by house numbers and street addresses as 1035 South Sixth street, 1037 South Sixth street and 1028 South Fairhill street (collectively, the “Properties”).  The area of the Properties is bounded as follows:

1035 South Sixth street.                     

All that certain lot or piece of ground with the building and appurtenances thereto, if any, situate in the Second Ward of the City of Philadelphia and being described as follows:  Beginning at a point on the easterly side of Sixth street, said point being located thirty feet northward from the intersection of the easterly side of Sixth street and the northerly side of League street;  Containing in front or breadth on the said Sixth street sixteen feet and extending in length eastward of that width between parallel lines at right angles to the said Sixth street seventy-eight feet to the westerly side of Fairhill street.

1037 South Sixth street.                     

All that certain lot or piece of ground with the building and appurtenances thereto, if any, situate in the Second Ward of the City of Philadelphia and being described as follows:  Beginning at a point on the easterly side of Sixth street, said point being located fourteen feet northward from the intersection of the easterly side of Sixth street and the northerly side of League street;  Containing in front or breadth on the said Sixth street sixteen feet and extending in length eastward of that width between parallel lines at right angles to the said Sixth street seventy-eight feet to the westerly side of Fairhill street.

1028 South Fairhill street.                     

All that certain lot or piece of ground with the building and appurtenances thereto, if any, situate in the Second Ward of the City of Philadelphia and being described as follows:  Beginning at a point on the westerly side of Fairhill street, said point being located fifty-nine and twenty-one hundredths feet northward from the intersection of the westerly side of Fairhill street and the northerly side of League street, and extending thence; Leaving said line of Fairhill street north seventy-eight degrees, sixteen minutes, fifty-two seconds west, a distance of twenty-eight and ninety-four hundredths feet;   Thence, north twenty degrees, nineteen minutes, ten seconds east, a distance of eleven and thirty-seven hundredths feet;  Thence, north eleven degrees, twenty-eight minutes, zero seconds east, a distance of four and twenty-five hundredths feet;  Thence, south seventy-eight degrees, thirty-two minutes, zero seconds east, a distance of three feet;   Thence, north eleven degrees, twenty-eight minutes, zero seconds east, a distance of three and sixty-nine hundredths feet;  Thence, south sixty-nine degrees, twelve minutes, forty seconds east, a distance of twenty-four and fifty-two hundredths feet to the aforementioned westerly side of Fairhill street;  Thence, along said line of Fairhill street, south eleven degrees, twenty-eight minutes, zero seconds west, a distance of fifteen and thirty-three hundredths feet to the first mentioned point and place of beginning.

The said redevelopment contract is in substantial conformity with the amended urban renewal plan and the amended redevelopment proposal approved by the Council; and

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Gardens Trust desires to enter into the said redevelopment contract for the Properties.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the redevelopment contract submitted by the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority (hereinafter “Redevelopment Authority”) for the redevelopment of that portion of the South Central Urban Renewal Area, as hereinabove more particularly described, is hereby approved.  City Council authorizes the Redevelopment Authority to proceed with minor changes in substantial conformity with the hereby approved redevelopment contract.  The Redevelopment Authority is authorized to execute the hereby approved redevelopment contract with Neighborhood Gardens Trust (hereinafter "Redeveloper").  The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to take such action in substantial conformity to the redevelopment contract as may be necessary to carry it out.

RESOLVED, The Redevelopment Authority and the Redeveloper are authorized to prepare or cause to be prepared for introduction into Council such ordinances or resolutions as may be necessary for changes in zoning, streets, alleys, public ways, street patterns, location and relocation of public utilities, and related items which are required in order to facilitate and effectuate the redevelopment contract hereby approved.  Accordingly, the Council hereby declares that it will cooperate in helping to carry out the redevelopment contract and requests the various officials, departments, boards and agencies of the City having administrative responsibilities in the premises likewise to cooperate to such end and to exercise their respective functions and powers in a manner consistent with the redevelopment contract.
