WHEREAS, Monsignor Joseph Anderlonis was born and raised in the Bridesburg neighborhood of the City; and
WHEREAS, He received his Licentiate in Sacred Theology and Bachelor of Sacred Theology from Pontifical Gregorian University and he was ordained as a priest in 1969; and
WHEREAS, Continuing his education, Monsignor Joe would then attain his Doctorate in Sacred Theology as well, then deciding to take on multiple roles as assistant pastor to many parishes; and
WHEREAS, Monsignor Joe would begin serving the St. George’s parish of Port Richmond in the 1982 as their Pastor; and
WHEREAS, His time at St. George’s left a large impact on the riverwards community as he was a mentor, community leader, and friend to so many; and
WHEREAS, Monsignor Joe was lovingly known to his people as “MoJo” and was considered family to his parishioners who have so many shared memories and teachings from “their guy”; and
WHEREAS, The Port Richmond community identified the best way to memorialize Monsignor Joe with the street outside St. George’s being named “Monsignor Joe’s Path” so that the community can be reminded daily of their incredible teacher, leader, mentor and friend; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the 2700 block of East Venango Street, between Edgemont Street and Salmon Street in the City of Philadelphia, shall henceforth also be known as “Monsignor Joe’s Path”.
