Title

Amending Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled “Designation of Bicycle Lanes,” to authorize bicycle lanes in the Third Council District in the vicinity of South 49th Street, from Paschall Avenue to Grays Avenue; Grays Avenue, from 49th Street to Lindbergh Boulevard; and Lindbergh Boulevard, from Grays Avenue to Elmwood Avenue; and making associated changes to parking regulations within the same limits; all under certain terms and conditions.

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

 

SECTION 1.  Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code is amended to read as follows:

 

§ 12-701.  Designation of Bicycle Lanes.

                     (2)                     The Department is authorized to designate a bicycle lane upon the following streets and regulate the operation and use of vehicles and bicycles upon such streets in a manner consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) regulations:

(*) South 49th Street, from Paschall Avenue to Grays Avenue: one bicycle lane in each direction and the removal of a parking lane, east side.

(*) Grays Avenue, from South 49th Street to Lindbergh Boulevard: one bicycle lane in each direction and the removal of a parking lane, south side.

(*) Lindbergh Boulevard, from Grays Avenue to Elmwood Avenue: one bicycle lane in each direction and the removal of a parking lane, south side.

 

SECTION 2.  All existing street specific parking regulations on the following streets are hereby terminated: 

 

South 49th Street, from Paschall Avenue to Grays Avenue, east side

 

Grays Avenue, from 49th Street to Lindbergh Boulevard, south side

 

Lindbergh Boulevard, from Grays Avenue to Elmwood Avenue, south side

 

SECTION 3.  The following parking regulations are hereby established:

 

No Parking Any Time

 

South 49th Street, from Paschall Avenue to Grays Avenue, east side.

 

No Parking Any Time

 

Grays Avenue, South 49th Street to Lindbergh Boulevard, south side.

 

No Parking Any Time

 

Lindbergh Boulevard, Grays Avenue to Elmwood Avenue, south side.

 

SECTION 4.  This Ordinance shall take effect as follows:

 

                     (a) Section 1:  Immediately.

 

                     (b) Sections 2 and 3:  Upon replacement of parking signage consistent with this Ordinance.
