Honoring and Celebrating the Life of James “Pointman” Abram for his selfless dedication to his Country, his fellow Veterans, his community, and his loving family.

 

Body

WHEREAS, James Abram was born on July 27, 1945 in Marion, South Carolina, where he attended Johnikan High School, excelling in football; and

 

WHEREAS, James Abram was drafted into the United States Army where he honorably served in the Vietnam War, even serving in combat as the “Pointman” for his unit, C Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Calvary Regiment, 1st Calvary Division. He was the recipient of two Presidential Citations for his service during Operation Irving, and LZ Bird Combat Engagement in December 1967; and

 

WHEREAS, James Abram shared his life with his wife of 53 years, Claudette, with whom he had 3 beautiful children, Mychael Anthony Abram (deceased 2016), Yolanda (Abram) Stevens, and Myeshia Nicole Abram; and

 

WHEREAS, His pride continued to grow as a grandfather of 3 children, Tayahn Michael Abram, Ayanna Memorie Stevens, and finally being blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Jamier James Abram, Tayahn Michael Abram, Jr., Nalia Alayah Walker, and Aniya Isabella Abram; and

 

WHEREAS, James Abrams was for more than a quarter century a deacon at Triumph Baptist Church. Deacon Abrams led the veterans ministry and was the life of many a church functions which he led with joy, confidence and a helping hand for all; and 

 

WHEREAS, James Abram was the Founder and Board President of the Pointman Soldiers Heart Ministry for 31 years, serving thousands of his fellow veterans helping them receive benefits they justly earned by serving their country; and

 

WHEREAS, James Abram was a loyal employee at Heraeus Electro-Nite for 33 years, and a member of the Teamsters Local 115; and

 

WHEREAS, James Abram received many awards in his lifetime, including the NAACP Leadership Award; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby honors and celebrates the life of James ”Pointman” Abram for his selfless dedication to his Country, his fellow Veterans, his community, and his loving family.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Family of James Abram, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
