Encouraging the National Committee of the Young Democrats of America to hold their 2021 Biennial Convention in the City of Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, The Young Democrats of America is the largest youth-led, partisan political organization in the nation, mobilizing young people under the age of 36 to participate in the electoral process and has over 150,000 members nation-wide and chapters in 46 states and U.S. territories; and
WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Young Democrats have been recognized as the Young Democrats of America's Large Chapter of the Year upon the last Biennial Convention of YDA, following work by Young Democrats to get the first two Millennials nominated for and later elected to City Council; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Young Democrats work tirelessly and passionately across the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, benefitting Philadelphians and all Pennsylvanians by promoting Democratic values in young people; and
WHEREAS, Philadelphia, the City of Sisterly Love, is known around the globe for the welcoming, diverse, passionate population that calls Philadelphia home, our world-class Pennsylvania Convention Center, the best mascots in sports, and the greatest restaurants, museums, historical sites, parks, and amenities to be found in any City; and
WHEREAS, Philadelphia's murals, communities, music, theater, arts, and other unique cultural attractions are part of what landed it on National Geographic's "Best Trips List for 2020"; and
WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Inquirer recently reported that at least two major conferences in Philadelphia which were expected to draw nearly 21,000 people have recently been canceled. The conventions and conferences industry which includes hotels, restaurants, and tourist destinations across the city affects the livelihoods of over 70,000 hospitality workers in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, In 2018, the hotel industry in Philadelphia recorded a record $675 million dollars in revenue according to VISIT Philadelphia; ...
