Title

Honoring and congratulating Philadelphia natives Sinceré Harris and Erin Wilson for their new positions as White House Liaison for the Environmental Protection Agency and Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director for the White House Office of Political Affairs and Strategy.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Both Sinceré Harris and Erin Wilson are proud graduates of Philadelphia high schools, Sinceré graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls, setting an example for all future Girls’ High women. After high school, she earned her acceptance to Temple University, where she graduated with a degree in Psychology and a passion for politics.

 

WHEREAS, During her time at Temple University, Sinceré began her journey to transform politics in Pennsylvania and the nation, first volunteering for political campaigns and then later working on President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign in Pennsylvania; and

 

WHEREAS, Sinceré Harris turned her passion into a thriving career, serving as Southeast Political Director and Deputy Statewide Political Director for Governor Tom Wolf’s 2014 campaign, Deputy Director of the Wolf Inaugural Committee, and then working in the Governor’s Office of Legislative Affairs. In 2018, Harris became the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party until 2020 when she was recognized for her political talents and named the Pennsylvania Senior Advisor for Joe Biden for President. She led the Biden campaign to victory in the primary and the general election, by sticking to her life-long message fighting for workers’ rights, human rights, and progress for the middle class; and

 

WHEREAS, Harris’ journey for progress continues, as the next White House Liaison for the Environmental Protection Agency, where she will undoubtedly continue her hard work and success to help President Biden address one of the most important issues facing the world, climate change; and

 

WHEREAS, Erin Wilson is another new addition to the Biden Administration also representing the City of Sisterly Love. Erin graduated from Julia R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School and her hard work there led to her acceptance into the University of Pennsylvania, where she shaped her political skills and left with a degree in Political Science and Government; and

 

WHEREAS, Erin’s passion for politics was not confined to her college degree, going on to work for both the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. Her great work garnered the recognition of Senator Bob Casey, becoming the Senator’s Senior Advisor and his State Director for his reelection campaign in 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, She continued her incredible ascent in politics, serving as the National Political Director for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign in 2020 and helping Biden win Pennsylvania and the election. Erin also worked as the Deputy Executive Director for Biden’s Inaugural Committee, helping to lead the planning of the 59th Inaugural Ceremonies. Despite the challenges presented by a global health pandemic, Wilson worked to plan events that would maintain the day’s significance and feature diverse voices to speak to unity and justice, such as Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and Amanda Gorman; and

 

WHEREAS, After her dedication and hard work, Erin continues to work and address the needs of marginalized communities, serving in her new role as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director for the White House Office of Political Affairs and Strategy; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and recognize Philadelphia natives Sinceré Harris and Erin Wilson for their exemplary careers thus far and for their new roles as the White House Liaison for the Environmental Protection Agency and Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director for the White House Office of Political Affairs and Strategy.
