Officially naming and designating the dog park located on the north side of Winter Street between 21st Street and 22nd Street, in the City of Philadelphia, as the “Rob Stuart Memorial Dog Park”.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Robert Andrew Stuart, known to all as Rob, moved to Philadelphia with his wife Sarah Clark-Stuart in 1995 where he worked in technology and political consulting for various companies before founding his communications firm, Evolve Strategies, in 2006; and

 

WHEREAS, From 2006 to 2009, Rob was president of the Logan Square Neighborhood Association; and

 

WHEREAS, Rob was best known for persuading railroad company CSX Corp. to allow public crossings into the Schuylkill River Park at Race and Locust Streets and made a documentary about his efforts titled “Free the River Park” which he hoped would be used as a teaching tool for other activists; and

 

WHERAS, The vibrant, beautiful, and well-trod Schuylkill River Park is the result of his efforts; and

 

WHEREAS, Rob was a constant presence in City Hall as he lobbied for progressive causes and led efforts to improve his Logan Square neighborhood and the city; and now, therefore

 

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

 

SECTION 1. The dog park located on the north side of Winter Street between 21st Street and 22nd Street, in the City of Philadelphia is hereby officially named and designated as the “Rob Stuart Memorial Dog Park”.

 

SECTION 2. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
