Honoring and recognizing Adam Agalloco for his service to the City of Philadelphia.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Adam Agalloco has served the City of Philadelphia for a decade, helping to spearhead the City’s investment in clean energy and smart energy management and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions; and

 

WHEREAS, He spent ten years in the City of Philadelphia's Energy Office, serving six years as the City's Energy Manager; and

 

WHEREAS, Adam led a team that revolutionized the City's energy procurement, using best practices from the private sector to save the City millions of dollars; and

 

WHEREAS, Adam built a sophisticated approach to energy management which protects the City from energy price risks and allows the City to buy cleaner energy that supports local investment; and

 

WHEREAS, This model continues to realize savings for the City today; and

 

WHEREAS, Adam also led energy and water conservation projects for City facilities, including large-scale projects at City Hall, the Municipal Services Building, Criminal Justice Center, One Parkway and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, as well as dozens of smaller-scale projects at public safety and other buildings, including the Fire Administration Building; and

 

WHEREAS, Adam led the development of the City's first Municipal Energy Master Plan and supported the Office of Sustainability's Greenworks plan, helping to establish crucial practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air and water quality for all residents; and

 

WHEREAS, Adam was the primary driver of the City's first solar power purchase agreement, which at the time was a commitment to build the largest solar array in the state, a 70-megawatt project in Adams County to power 22% of the City's electricity; and

 

WHEREAS, Adam served on the board of the Philadelphia Energy Authority from January 2017 through May 2021, during which time he helped PEA grow to support over $167 million in energy projects and create 1,700 jobs; and

 

WHEREAS, Adam's service to PEA was invaluable for his engineering and energy expertise, strategic collaboration between the City and PEA, and creative approach to using energy as a tool for impact; and

 

WHEREAS, Adam now serves as a climate change and energy consultant in the private sector, demonstrating for the entire world the hard work, innovative thinking, and creative skill of Philadelphians; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council does hereby honor and recognize Adam Agalloco for his service to the City of Philadelphia.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Adam Agalloco, further evidencing the sincere respect of this legislative body.
