Adding Marion Johnson to the street signs on the block intersections of 8th and Duncannon Streets to 9th and Duncannon Streets in recognition of her public service in the Ninth Councilmanic District and to the City of Philadelphia, as well as her dedication to ensuring the support and success of Barrett Playground.

Body
WHEREAS, Marion Johnson served as the Zoning Specialist and Legislative Aide for Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco of the Ninth Councilmanic District. For over 27 years, she not only was a trusted advisor, but also regularly met with constituents, visited sites, and was always prepared when appearing before the Zoning Board of Adjustment; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson facilitated an environment that kept citizens, community organizations, members and staff of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, and other key stakeholders engaged throughout her work on zoning applications; and

WHEREAS, After decades working under the previous, antiquated Zoning Code, Ms. Johnson lent her vast land use and community experience as an appointee to the Zoning Code Commission, helping to craft a new Code, written through compromise by representatives from all parties interested in the process, and meant to accommodate modern needs and uses, thus leaving a lasting mark on the City and its zoning processes. Ms. Johnson retired from the City in 2015 after an esteemed career; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson is an active and committed member of Greater Exodus Baptist Church, where she serves as one of the Mothers of the Church, and from which she ministers to friends and neighbors in Logan and beyond; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson has contributed to her community in many additional ways, including as the Executive Committeeperson for the 49th Democratic Ward, the President of the Concerned Citizens of Logan, a member of Barrett Playground's Advisory Council, and a block leader, responsible for organizing clean-up days and block parties in her neighborhood; now, therefore, be it
