WHEREAS, Ronald R. Donatucci, Senior, dedicated most of his long, illustrious career to public service; and

WHEREAS, Mister Donatucci grew up in South Philadelphia and attended Temple University and the University of Baltimore School of Law. He began his career as a law clerk in the Law Department and went on to serve as chief of enforcement for the Department of Licenses and Inspections, and later counsel to the Philadelphia Parking Authority. Following these appointive offices, Mr. Donatucci was elected and served with distinction as a Member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 185th District; and

WHEREAS, Mister Donatucci served as Philadelphia's Register of Wills for over 40 years, where he served as the ex-officio Clerk of the Orphans' Court. He also served as a trustee for Temple University and as president of the board of directors of City Trusts. Beneficiaries of this work include Girard College and Wills Eye Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Mister Donatucci was also a strong political figure in South Philadelphia, serving as a leader of the 26th Democratic Ward. An influential advisor and endorser among political hopefuls, Mayor Jim Kenney has called him "the dean of politics." He also served as a superdelegate at the 2008 Democratic National Convention; and

WHEREAS, Mister Donatucci dedicated his career to public service and imparted that dedication to his entire family, including his brother, Robert, and his sister-in-law, Maria, who also went on to serve as elected officials; and

WHEREAS, On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, Mr. Donatucci passed away, leaving behind a legacy in Philadelphia that will be remembered and celebrated for many years to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the 2300 block of South 21st Street also be named Ronald R. Donatucci ...
