Honoring and congratulating Champion of the Week and Black Business Crawl organization, the National Marian Anderson Museum & Historical Society, on their dedication to Black art and historical preservation of Marian Anderson's life and her home in Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, Marian Anderson's home is the site of the National Marian Anderson Museum run by the Marian Anderson Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, The talented Blanche Burton-Lyles, who was the first African American woman to receive a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, founded the National Marian Anderson Museum and Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, The organization supports upcoming musicians as well as students of theater and visual arts through the National Marian Anderson Museum Scholar Arts Program; and
WHEREAS, The Marian Anderson Scholar Artist Program, partnered with the organization, hosts many events to showcase the talents of musical ambassadors as they represent Marian Anderson's legacy of supporting artists and showcasing their talents around the world; and
WHEREAS, The exhibit for 2022 will focus on the role that Marian Anderson had in the civil rights movement in the 1960s and how she used her talents to deliver a powerful message; and
WHEREAS, By creating new exhibits every year, the National Marian Anderson Museum & Historical Society continue Anderson's legacy and contributions to the musical world, and society through the different glimpses of Anderson's life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor the National Marian Anderson Museum & Historical Society for their dedication to Black art and historical preservation of Marian Anderson's life as a renowned classical musician and civil rights leader.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to the National Marian Anderson Museum & Historical Society, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this ...
