Recognizing May 1, 2022, as National School Principal’s Day in the City of Philadelphia.

 

Body

WHEREAS, May 1, 2022, is a day to recognize principals of all schools, from elementary schools to high schools; and

 

WHEREAS, We celebrate our incredible principals who work tirelessly to ensure that Philadelphia students and school communities thrive; and

 

WHEREAS, School principals in the City of Philadelphia serve as the instructional and operational leaders of their respective schools; and

 

WHEREAS, There are over 450 school principals providing leadership in the City of Philadelphia, inclusive of public, charter, alternative, private, parochial, and cyber schools; and

 

WHEREAS, School principals are school leaders who have a passion for working with children and leading innovation to ensure all students achieve. Though principals are among the hardest working, they too are among the least recognized in education; and

 

WHEREAS, Principals provide a clear vision for the learning of all students; ensure a safe, secure, and orderly learning environment; and cultivate strong relationships with students, families, and communities; and

 

WHEREAS, We congratulate the seven School District of Philadelphia principals winning the 2022 Lindback Awards for their leadership, each of whom will receive $20,000 to support their respective schools; and

 

WHEREAS, We must continue to respect, support, and fully cooperate with our instructional leaders as they continue in the fight to equitably educate our students as they prepare to become competitive citizens in a global economy; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognize May 1, 2022, as School Principal’s Day in the City of Philadelphia.
