Recognizing MenzFit on the occasion of their 15th Anniversary celebration and expressing gratitude for their service to the men of Philadelphia.
Body
WHEREAS, MenzFit is an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure long-term gainful employment and financial fitness to low-income, mostly minority men with little formal education; and
WHEREAS, Through the provision of professional attire, career development and financial literacy services, MenzFit impacts the lives of their men and enables them to provide for themselves and their families, thus lifting up the communities in which they live; and
WHEREAS, MenzFit is led by founder and President Rhonda Willingham, a communications professional, image consultant, and lifelong advocate for underserved individuals, families, and communities, who understands the correlation between a family-sustaining job and an individual’s feelings of self-worth; and
WHEREAS, For 15 years, Rhonda and her team, with the generous support of scores of volunteers, donors and sponsors, have helped thousands of men, including veterans, laid-off individuals and unhoused and/or returning citizens, secure steady and rewarding work; and
WHEREAS, Once a job is secured, MenzFit works with clients to help them manage their money in sustainable ways, thus achieving the stability that we know leads to productive and successful lives and vibrant communities; and
WHEREAS, It is the hope of this Council that MenzFit continues to help men surmount the barriers to success in their lives in order to secure employment, live long and healthy lives, and have positive impacts in their families and communities, for another 15 years and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of Philadelphia, That it does hereby recognize MenzFit on the occasion of their 15th Anniversary celebration and express its gratitude for their service to the men of Philadelphia.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to representatives of MenzFit, as evidence of the sincere sentiment of this legislative body.
