THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1. Title 9 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

CHAPTER 9-600. SERVICE AND OTHER BUSINESSES

? 9-649. Sale of Body Armor.

(1) Definitions. For purposes of this Section, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

(a) "Body armor." Any garment that is designed, redesigned, or adapted to protect the wearer from the penetration or impact of bullets, knives or other weapons.

(b) "Body armor seller." A person or an entity who, in the course of business, purchases or receives body armor for the purpose of sale to a consumer.

(2) A body armor seller shall retain records related to the sale of body armor to a Philadelphia resident and register such transaction with the Department of Licenses and Inspections within thirty (30) days of the sale by providing the name and address of the individual, the make, model, and manufacturer of the body armor, and such other information as required by the Department of Licenses and Inspection.
