Honoring Anne Bovaird Nevins for her service as president of PIDC, and wishing her the best in her future endeavors.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Anne Bovaird Nevins, president of PIDC, will be transitioning out of her role after 15 years as a senior leader in the organization; and

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Nevins has an MBA from the Wharton School and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania; and

 

WHEREAS, From 1999 to 2001, Mrs. Nevins served in the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs, which is responsible for coordination between the President and all cabinet agencies. She then joined the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and managed the logistical and hospitality arrangements for all U.S. dignitaries attending the Olympics; and

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Nevins then managed corporate sponsorships for the Kimmel Center. She next served as director of development for Historic Philadelphia, Inc., and raised substantial funds to renovate Franklin Square, an eight-acre urban park in the center of Philadelphia’s historic district; and

 

WHEREAS, In 2007, Mrs. Nevins joined PIDC, where she has served in a variety of senior roles. She served as Senior Vice President for Marketing and Business Development for six years, where she led a team that transformed PIDC’s brand identity, developed new lending products, and generated loans to small, diverse, and growing businesses, investing over $117 million dollars across 94% of Philadelphia’s zip codes; and 

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Nevins also served as PIDC’s chief strategy and communications officer, a key member of the executive team, in which role she oversaw capitalization, product development, strategic communications, and partnerships; and

 

WHEREAS, In January 2020, she was appointed president of PIDC; and 

 

WHEREAS, During her tenure, PIDC invested more than $32 million in 16 commercial and mixed-use projects led by developers of color throughout Philadelphia. Mrs. Nevins also oversaw the selection of Ensemble/Mosaic as the new development partner for 109 acres at the Navy Yard, which will deliver $2.5 billion of investment, more than 4.5 million square feet of commercial and retail development, more than 4,000 units of residential development, and represents an unprecedented commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Nevins was integral to the efforts to respond to the pandemic, restart the economic momentum of our city, and position Philadelphia to recharge and reimagine the City’s economic future. Under her leadership, PIDC has deployed over $71 million in COVID-19 relief to more than 5,200 small businesses - serving more businesses over these past two years than the organization had in the prior 40 years; and

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Nevins has served on the Mayor’s Refinery Advisory Group for the City of Philadelphia, co-managed Philadelphia’s Amazon HQ2 bid, and has created and led PIDC and ULI Philadelphia’s partnership advisory committee on the future of work and its impact on industrial and commercial land. Mrs. Nevins also currently serves as co-chair of the Racism and Economic Development Committee of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC); and

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Nevins has been an exceptional leader for PIDC during a particularly challenging time for Philadelphia. Her leadership played a significant role in ensuring an equitable economic recovery for Philadelphia; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors Anne Bovaird Nevins for her service as president of PIDC and wishes her the best in her future endeavors.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Anne Bovaird Nevins as evidence of the admiration and respect of this body.
