Honoring the life and legacy of David Krain for his dedication to public service and advocacy on behalf of all municipal workers in the City of Philadelphia.

Body
WHEREAS, David Krain was born in Philadelphia to Mayer and Deborah, who instilled in him the importance of public service and family; and

WHEREAS, David was a public school graduate and earned a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University in 2001; and

WHEREAS, David began working and training as a social worker in the Philadelphia Department of Human Services; and

WHEREAS, David joined Local 2187, representing municipal workers in the City of Philadelphia. David rose through the ranks of the union and the Department of Human Services through his hard work and commitment to serving the people of Philadelphia with compassion and dignity; and

WHEREAS, David became active in District Council 47, where he continued his advocacy for municipal workers, especially social workers employed through the Department of Human Services and Philadelphians effected by the City's policies; and

WHEREAS, In his role with DC 47, David has advocated at all levels of government for municipal employees and how they interact with Philadelphia's city services. David's championing of these causes earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, policy makers, staffers and the many members of this Body who have interacted with him time and again; and

WHEREAS, The sudden and tragic passing of David at the age of 43 has shocked and saddened the members of his union, this Body, and his family and friends who loved and cherished him, including his cherished fianc? DeShai Stanford and his stepdaughter Bailey; and

WHEREAS, David's consummate professionalism, compassion, and leadership are invaluable qualities that made him a friend and mentor to all people he interacted with, and will be deeply missed; now, therefore, be it
