Honoring and congratulating the Champions of the Week, the artists of "Legacy Reclaimed: A 7th Ward Tribute," for their efforts in promoting and showcasing the history of the Black residents of Philadelphia's historic 7th Ward.

WHEREAS, The group is formed from a multitude of talented artists from Philadelphia, from various backgrounds. Ms. Amelia Carter, Ms. Beth Lewis, and Ms. Li Sumpter have used their collective talents to gather and accurately portray a history that is often flown under the radar; and
WHEREAS, The "Legacy Reclaimed" project is a group effort, between The Philadelphia City Archives, Little Giant Creative, and Mural Arts Philadelphia, intended to shine light on the overlooked history of the 7th Ward. The group recognizes that the 7th Ward is a historically significant center for African American art and culture, and aims to pay tributes to important figures through various artworks; and
WHEREAS, "Legacy Reclaimed," with funds from the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, honors prominent Americans such as Dr. Nathan Mossell, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, and W.E.B. Dubois, among others, through their art galleries and informative tours; and
WHEREAS, Their work, which is shared throughout a multitude of businesses, residences, and churches in the historic 7th Ward, comes in many forms. From performances, to artworks, to panel discussions, to vinyl decals and educational tours, "Legacy Reclaimed" works to exhibit the often overlooked Black history of the historic 7th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The "Legacy Reclaimed" project serves as a shining example of passion, dedication, and perseverance to the preservation of history and culture, of not only the historic 7th ward of Philadelphia, but of the United States as a whole; now, therefore, be it
